Donate online now through CanadaHelps.

To make a donation in person, see staff at your favourite WPL location. Cash, cheque, debit, VISA and Mastercard are accepted. If you prefer to mail your cheque (made payable to Waterloo Public Library), please address the envelope to Waterloo Public Library, 35 Albert Street, Waterloo, ON N2L 5E2 Attn.: Laurie Clarke.

Donations of Books & DVDs

Thank you for thinking of the library for your book and DVD donations.  Unfortunately, during COVID we are not able to take donations of books and DVDs.  The following options may be alternatives for lightly used, newer material that needs a new home.  Please check in advance to ensure these organizations can take your items.

These groups accept books as donations, and many offer a pick-up service. Note that the Mennonite Central Committee does not accept textbooks or encyclopedias.

St. Mary's General Hospital

The hospital holds an annual book sale and welcomes donations of gently used books published in the past 5 years. Interested donors should contact Laura Paprocki at 519-749-6549.

Recycling

No one likes to discard a book, but sometimes the condition of the book requires this. Hardcover books, paperbacks, magazines and telephone books may be recycled through the local Blue Box program. Just bundle similar items together. For more information on recycling, phone 519-883-5100 or visit the Region of Waterloo’s website.

Endowment Fund

The endowment fund provides annual earnings that assist with the Summer Reading programs. You can give to the WPL Endowment Fund by contacting:
